Choosing Your Portable Basketball System
Quality Hoops offers a variety of portable basketball systems and portable basketball hoops. Whether you want to add some extra goals for your indoor practice sessions or temporarily transform your driveway into a court, our portable basketball hoops make it possible for you. Our portable models come with many different features, and some systems are better suited for different styles of play. For example, those with metal-weighted bases are best suited for indoor use, while water- or sand-weighted bases are better for outdoor use.
At first glance, choosing a basketball hoop with wheels might seem overwhelming, but we’ve made it easy for you to find the one that’s right for you. Simply check the options that fit what you’re looking for and we will provide the results that match your specifications.
If you aren’t sure exactly what you need, there’s no need to worry. We’ve compiled a list of questions you can ask yourself to make your choice easier.
Where will the portable system be located?
Deciding where to place your portable basketball system will help you determine what kind of backboard material is best.
If you’re planning to place your portable basketball system indoors, you may want to choose tempered glass. Tempered glass is the standard for professional, college, and high school basketball games.
If you’re planning to place your portable basketball hoop outside, however, you may want to take the environment into consideration. If the basketball system will be close to gravel or near a baseball field, for example, acrylic may be more ideal for you since tempered glass can break if hit with hard objects such as baseballs or rocks. However, acrylic tends to become cloudy if it sits in direct sunlight over extended periods of time.
What size backboard do you want?
The backboard widths we offer are 36″, 44″, 48″, 54″, 60″, and 72″. Regulation calls for 42″ X 72″ , so in that case you would opt for a system with a 72″ backboard. Institutional gameplay requires either 60″ or 72″. If you want something smaller and won’t be hosting higher level competitive games, then you might consider one of our smaller models.
How rigorous is your level of play?
If you’re just shooting around in your backyard, foldable basketball hoops make it easy to put them away, and they’re durable enough for occasional use. For gyms and schools where the competition level may be more intense, you might want to consider a system with a metal base that doesn’t fold because it offers greater stability.
